Hot Oil Filtration
Hot Frying Oil Filtration is a specialist application that has been dedicated to for over 10 years. Manufacturing and supplying a range of filtration media for OEM’s, resellers and end users alike, We able to support each of these sectors with technical and commercial advice.
The product we offer suits both the industrial and food service sectors, offering Complete Frying Oil Maintenance solutions.
Why Frying Oil Filtration?
The obvious advantage with hot frying oil filtration is the consistently high quality of the oil, over a longer frying life. This in turn leads to consistent high quality food being produced. With longer frying oil life and reduced top ups, there are financial savings to be made with the reduction in oil consumed leading to a reduction in used oil disposal. Regular filtration ensures the fryers remain cleaner avoiding timely cleaning out (digging out in some industrial cases).
Our hot frying oil filter media range comprises of mesh bags through filter paper cones, envelopes and flat sheets to the SuperSorb CarbonPad, which offers the best in oil filtration.
Lubricant Oil
We are also able to offer a comprehensive range of pleated paper & synthetic media filter cartridges/elements including:
Fuel and Lubricating Oil Filters.
Fullers Earth cartridges
Activated Alumina cartridges
Our oil filtration products are manufactured to high quality standards
and enjoy an excellent reputation in their varied and exacting applications.
We work closely with our raw material suppliers.
We keep abreast of development in filtration materials and incorporate these in our continuous product development programme.

Pharmaceuticals
There are a large number of applications in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries where our filtration media contribute to the clarity, purity and sterility of a large variety of products. Our products is widely regarded for its expertise in the field of filtration in these industries and assistance is always available from our Technical Development Centre.
Many antibiotics are manufactured using filtration as part of the sterilisation process. The XE1700H sterilising sheet has been designed for this purpose and achieves very high levels of sterility. Because flow rates through a sterilising filter are very low, pre-filtration can assist by using XE20H to XE280H to remove the bulk of particulate matter.
Vaccines, sera, injection solutions, salines and blood plasma can be treated in the same way.
Most types of medicinal syrup such as rose-hip and cough syrups can be filtered satisfactorily in a single filtration. The XE5, XE10H, XE20H or XE50H are ideal for this purpose due to their ability to cater for a wide range of viscosity and impurity levels. Products with high levels of impurity or high viscosity may require the use of a filter aid such as kieselguhr and W2N high performance cellulose backing sheet.

Toiletries and Cosmetics
Preparations require varied treatments depending on the nature, clarity and sterility requirements of the finished product.
Spirit or water based toiletries such as eau-de-cologne lotions, after-shave preparations, perfume sprays and toilet water etc., often need to be filtered before bottling. Sheet filters are ideally suited for this purpose fitted with XE90H to XE200H. Some products in this category can form hazes, especially in low ambient temperatures and so filtration after chilling to around 0 degrees C can solve this problem. Typical filtration rates are in the range 450-900 litres per square metre per hour. Sheet filters are also suited to hazardous area applications, sometimes found where high alcohol concentrations are to be filtered.
Chemicals
As with the diversity of products and processes within the chemical industry,We developed a range of depth filer media to solve liquid solid separation problems. In addition to this we also boasts a comprehensive range of dedicated activated carbon treatment media.
Some examples of the chemicals and chemical intermediates filtered/treated by our products are;
Antibiotics - Medicinal syrups - Diagnostic prducts - Blood products
Injectables - Resins - Serum/plasma (lipids)
Precipitants (ph and temperature induced)
We offer its range of filter and treatment media in two main formats;
Flat sheets, converted to any size and shape from 5 to 10mm tablets up to 1.5x3metre sheets
The other format is lenticular modules, offering depth media in an efficient, economic and robust unit.

Beer and Brewing
The role of filtration in the brewing industry is vital to the production of bright, haze free and sterilised beers and lagers. For many years, Filtration has been highly regarded for its expertise in the two stage filtration process, typically used in the brewing industry. These stages are refered to as the First Stage or Roughing out Stage and the Second Stage or Polishing Filtration Stage.
Soft Drinks and Fruit Juices
The production of soft drinks involves the filtering of both sugar syrup and water used in the bottling process. The source and degree of refinement or purity of the sugar supplied for syrup making will largely determine the treatment and filtration needed.
Most syrups are produced using either the hot or cold method. Relatively dilute syrups are mixed at ambient temperature in a supply tank, filtered under pump pressure and hence to a holding tank.

Wines
Through an extensive R&D programme, this type of Filtration is widely regarded as a leader in the field of wine filtration and has developed a range of filtration products ideally suited to the demands of the wine producer. These are available in both filter sheet form and in lenticular format. Our manufacturing process allows alternative forms to be produced to individual customer requirement within realistic lead times.
Filtration plays a vital role in the production of wine. A number of important characteristics, essential to enhancing the quality of wine are facilitated through carefully controlled filtration. These include both chemical and biological stability, a bright appearance and freedom from any deposits.
These qualities are achieved in different ways:
Chemical stability
Biological stability
Brightness
Spirits
Filtration of whiskey (whisky), either single malt or blended types, after blending is vital to ensure life, stability and good clarity. To this end the removal of hazes and the precursors to haze formation, is particularly important. Consequently, the steps used in filtration of different types of whiskey (whisky) require careful control and correct choice of filter equipment and media. This type of Filtration is highly regarded for its expertise in the area of whiskey (whisky) filtration and has developed a number of high performance filter sheets specifically for the industry.
There are two types of haze and precipitation problems associated with whiskey (whisky), which can be broadly classified as chemical and physical
:
Sugar Syrup
The W2N support sheet should be used in conjunction with a plate and frame filter press to remove all powder and particulates from treated syrup, please read below for more detail.
Typically for this application, 0.5% or even more of kieselguhr is added to the syrup as a filter aid and prior to batch filtration, 500 grammes per square metre of filter plate area is applied as a pre-coat in treated water. Sugar syrup filtration flow rates vary according to conditions, e.g., viscosity and sugar quality etc. High quality, relatively dilute sugar syrup made be filtered at 950 litres per square metre per hour. On the other hand, flow rates as low as 300 litres per square metre per hour may be possible with high concentrations of syrup containing activated carbon and kieselguhr
